Event & Services Questions

How would you define your “style” or approach to providing DJ entertainment?

As a young DJ, I used to shadow guys who tried to be the life of the party and by that, I mean making corny jokes and awkward shout outs to the crowd. I vowed that moment to NEVER be that guy. I’m there to be your master of ceremonies and make an impact with the music as I guide you and your guests through an amazing night!

How involved are you in helping us plan our music?

You’re going to have some sort of music from start to finish at your wedding. The last thing I want is for you to be surprised by what is playing unless it’s a good surprise. That starts and ends with making SURE you’re completely satisfied with the selection process. Not only will I help you plan the music, I will also make it clear what you can expect from me throughout the entire event!

How do you handle our requests and those of our guests?

Requests all starts with you. As my client, it’s ultimately your decision if you’d like me to take requests or not. If the answer is yes, then I will use my discretion based on our conversations.

Is it true that you get what you pay for?

While this is a loaded question, when it comes to hiring an entertainer for your event, you’re going to run into 1 of 2 things. If the DJ is under-priced, then he/she doesn’t know their worth or they’re no good. It’s the same reason I don’t buy cheap speakers. They may work but do I trust them? On the opposite side, you can easily hire someone for a ton of money because they have all the glitz and glam but hate their personality. It truly is up to you but they’re many factors to consider when choosing the right person.

What is included in a Ceremony Package?

The Ceremony package includes music for the processional, bridal party entrance, bride entrance and recessional as well a wireless microphone for your officiant. I have a wireless or lapel microphone - whichever your officiant would like!

My Ceremony isn’t near power, is that a problem?

Not at all. We have a wireless system for those ceremonies that require more wide-open spaces.

Do you handle all the announcing duties?

I’m at your event to host and that is exactly what I intend to do. I’ll make sure to write down every announcement you need whether it be pre-written or on the spot.

Will you work with my other vendors?

I strongly feel that if vendors don’t stay in sync throughout the event, then we are not doing our jobs. You guys do all of the hard work so that when event day comes, you shouldn’t have to. I will also coordinate with the photographer, videographer, caterer, event planner and anyone else to ensure that your event is as great as you imagined it would be.
Please check out the "Preferred Vendors" tab to see some of the best in the business!

What do you wear to weddings?

Every event is different, but rest assured whether it be a suit or something more casual, I will ALWAYS dress accordingly.

What if the party is still going, will you stay longer?

Yes! My night is dedicated to your event regardless of how long I’m scheduled for. While there is an overtime rate, If it’s okay with your venue to party on then party on we will!

Business Questions

Do you provide a contract?

Absolutely. While I didn’t get into DJ’ing for the business side of the industry, I do understand that it's important for both me and you to cover our bases. I will make sure that we go over everything and once we both agree, we will each get a copy for our records.

What is the deposit and when is final payment due?

The Deposit is 25% of the total agreed upon amount. The final payment should be made 2 weeks prior the event.

Are there any discounts if we pay in advance?

Yes! We reward the early birds with an early bird discount. If you pay 6 months in advance of your wedding, then I offer a 10% discount off the full invoiced.

How early should we book you?

The easy answer is as soon as possible. Most couples will begin the process a year before the wedding date and the last thing you want to do is be scrambling last minute to find a vendor. Settling for the only person you could get over the person you want should never be your only option.

Are you insured?  Can you supply me with proof of liability?

Yes, absolutely!

What equipment do you use?

While I’m not sure if brands of equipment matter to you, what matters to me is that what I use be of the most professional standards. With brands like QSC, Shure, Denon, Lenovo, HP, ADJ, Chauvet, etc. you can be reassured that I’m going to walk into your event with my absolute best foot forward

Do you have back-ups for your equipment?

The unknown is terrible thing to have to worry about if you’re not prepared. I always carry a couple of laptops, external hard drives for music, an extra microphone, speaker and additional lighting.

When is our play list informational due?

We will meet when you’re available NO LATER than 1 week prior to your event. This is when we will go over all of your hard work and make sure you’re completely comfortable with the selections you’ve made.

How do we reserve DJ Alex Woodruff?

Call, Text, Message, Morse Code, Smoke Signals or any other effective form of communication! The first meeting is a no-cost consultation, but I do operate on a first come, first served basis so If you’d like to ensure your date, then make sure you put down your deposit!

How do we pay for your services?

Check, Cash, PayPal, Venmo or money order work best!
